In service Testing (PAT)
They require that, as may be necessary to prevent danger, all systems shall be maintained so as to prevent, so far as is reasonably practicable, such danger.

This includes electrical equipment. The regulations apply to all places of work including the entertainment industry and rented properties (including caravans) etc.

Regular inspection and testing is designed to protect you, the employer, your employees and other people (customers etc) in the workplace, against the risk of personal injury, fire or even death from a faulty appliance during work or social activities.
Periodic Inspection and Test

A Periodic Inspection and Testing (PIR) is an inspection on the condition of an electrical installation, to identify any deficiencies.

Periodic Inspection and Testing (PIR) examines and evaluates the electrical installation’s safety, and/or deterioration due to a number of factors, such as damage, wear, tear, corrosion, excessive electrical loading, ageing and environmental influences, or items of none compliance which may give rise to danger.

Why is a Periodic Inspection and Testing (PIR)Needed?
As every electrical installation deteriorates with age and use, it is essential that they are maintained in order to ensure safety. Legalisation requires that all electrical installations are kept in a safe working condition.
